Initially the name Scobalit was associated chiefly with transparent corrugated plastic sheets, domed skylight units, sandwich panels with two-way ribbing, and Mistral® surfboards. Today the company is using glass-fibre reinforced plastics in diverse ways that take advantage of the good appearance of the products, which have become popular in modern architecture and interior design. An exciting new design of Scobalit AG is the sandwich panel filled with aerogel. These panels for roofs and walls combine translucency and excellent insulation properties.
An unparalleled innovation is the super-strong scobamat®
mat for reinforcing soft ground surfaces. Fire brigades
and rescue squads use these mats to instantly “pave”
soft or weak terrain for vehicular traffic. The mats are
so strong they can support the weight of a jumbo jet.
They are in use at many airports worldwide.
